In Punjabi? Way cool!
Few days ago, R and I went shopping; part of the preparation for our upcoming engagement. For a change, we decided to go Sungei Wang Plaza. Many are not aware that this shopping complex has been around for over 20 years in KL.

Before establishments like Suria KLCC and MidValley Megamall came along, Sungei Wang Plaza was THE place for shopping. In fact, it's still an awesome place to shop, especially if you're looking for a mobile phone, camera and casual apparel.

Anyway, I'm not here to promote Sungei Wang. It's just that we spotted something rather extraordinary there - a danger sign that was neither bi- nor tri lingual. It was in Malay, English, Chinese, Tamil & Punjabi! (yup, in that order)

If you're wondering what the excitement is all about, well, believe you me, a public signage in Punjabi is an unusual sight in KL city.

Couldn't resist but to take a picture with it!

New Toys... Woohoo!
COMPAQ PRESARIO M2000

Thanks to KSS again, I changed my laptop after having the last one for only a few months. This is my 4th laptop for the year. It's also my first AMD powered machine, which seems comparable to my previous Centrino. So far, she appears to be a dependable workhorse - AMD Turion64 1.8ghz, 1.5gb RAM, 80gb HDD, DVD burner and a 6-in-1 card reader.

PALM TUNGSTEN T2

Thanks to my bro J, I got a new PDA. The key feature of the unit is the sliding lower section, which can be extended to expose the text entry field, and then be retracted again to maintain it's compact form. It's awesome and definitely a pleasant change from my old IBM Workpad C3.

CASIO EXILIM S500

I've been lugging SLRs for more than a decade now. I thought it would be nice to have something really small for a change. After months of reviewing nearly two dozen models, I settled for this beauty. It is unbelievably thin! Since its primarily for casual snapshots, this 5 megapixel camera would be sufficient.

It's interesting to see how beginners and amateurs get conned into buying high megapixel cameras. The megapixel rating on your CMOS/CCD chip does not determine the clarity and quality of your photos. It only increases the size of your image and gives you the option of printing larger photos. It's the optics that matter more than anything!

Mission (Almost) Accomplished
I'm done with my MSc! Actually, 90% of it. Decided to extend my research paper to next semester. I really want to produce a useable working paper rather than treating it as just another academic assignment. It's pointless studying if you only want the cert.

It's also a major relief that I no longer have to attend weekend seminars and workshops (and write more papers). I will just be focusing solely on the research till mid of next year. And the plan is to get started soonest possible; fine-tuning the paper and gearing it towards my next academic journey...

PhD? Maybe.
Australia, again? Maybe.

Recently, Ruby pampered me with something really nice. Just wish I had more time to make the most out of it. On a different note, I managed to convince Ruby to switch to my gym. So yeah, today's our first workout together! Find her damn sexy in gym-wear; that'll serve as motivation to go gymming more often :)

And to pamper myself, I acquired some new toys to keep me busy till the end of the year. Yeah, some big boys' toys. Will write about that in my next posting.
