Passion Vs Priority III
Last Sunday, Ruby and I drove to this little town called Rawang (some 18 miles off KL) to catch up with a biker chap, Amran. We met at his workplace - TNB yard, which was quiet and spacious.

Amran has a mint-condition Virago XV535 and wants to upgrade to a DragStar 1100. Reason for the intended upgrade is the same with most bikers - the need for more power!

I'm going to digress to state an interesting observation. Ever since my search for a big motorcycle began, I've spoken and mingled with uncountable superbikers.

The point that I wish to make is, despite being total strangers, it doesn't feel that way. The passion for these heavy machines supersedes all human differences - race, creed, colour, etc. Now that's the true spirit of brotherhood!

The search has also connected me with people of diverse professions, from high-ranking police officials to forensic photographers, media editors, newscasters, consultants from various industries and also retirees. Amazing!

As Amran and I were engrossed in conversation, I was totally oblivious to the fact that Ruby was busy clickin' away. As a photographer, I've always been behind the scenes. Nowadays, it's seem to be the opposite :)

The seating position is perfect for city & country cruising

Getting aquainted with her calm yet aggresive demeanour

Inspecting the drive-shaft

Listening to the twin custom-pipes. Music to the ears :)

Admiring her chromed V-twin body. Mouth-watering!

Upon returning from Rawang, I showed these photos to daddy dearest and he took an immediate liking for the bike! Mom was equally supportive of the idea. Despite their support and my craving to acquire this machine, I'm still a little indecisive as to whether I should proceed with the purchase. Might change my mind in the next couple of days...

Tabla Rumble

Played in no particular taal, Hardip defies all Tabla norms in this clip. He says, "I'm no deviant. I'm just jamming minus ruling".

Note: Shot on low-resolution Sony Ericsson k750i.

Passion vs Priority II
Seven months ago (read post), I was certain of the Virago 535. Now, I'm somewhat considering the Vulcan 500. It's a tough decision and I'm trying not to be hasty.

Yamaha Virago 535

vs

Kawasaki Vulcan 500

I'm in contact with a few members of CRC and Spitfire Bikers. They're for the Vulcan 500 as it's twin-parallel engine is made for touring. In contrast, Virago's twin-V engine is for torque. Apart from that, the final-drive is another factor to consider Virago's shaft vs Vulcan's chain. But in the end, everyone think's I should just get what I like. Hmmm...

The search has been on for months already. But golden question remains unanswered - when will I get my ride?

Dull New Year
Mon, 1st Jan:

Tried to step out of the gloominess by taking a drive to Sunway with Ruby and my cousin R. We were there an hour before New Year's. Planted ourselves outside Sunway Lagoon Resort and watched the antics of party revelers and merry-makers. After the grand display of fireworks, we inched our way out of the crowd and lepaked at a mamak in Subang. Got home at past 3am.

Later in the evening, we went back to Kepong for a small family gathering and worship session. It was blissful.

Tue, 2nd Jan:

At 8am, we returned to the crematorium to collect the ashes and headed to Port Klang. There were more than 20 of us; two boats were booked. The ashes were released by Uncle-I at the river mouth of Klang River.

I remember mom's words that morning, before we left to the crematorium - "remember to release grandma's ashes gently as it is her last journey".

Of the uncountable memories, grandma will be remembered for her unbiased treatment towards all her grandchildren. Yes, I say that with conviction.

RIP grandma. You will be dearly missed...
