Stinky Bimmer
As Ruby and I were driving along the LDP on Friday afternoon, a sporty BMW grabbed our attention - not so much for its flashy charm but rather its registration number...

Now, what was the owner thinking of?!

He or she should've separated the number 11.

But then again, no difference, innit?

For my foreign friends, Tahi means shit/faeces in Malay, our national language.

Personal Branding Workshop
Date: Friday, 23rd March 2007
Venue: The Saujana, Kuala Lumpur

The workshop was an eye-opener, really. You see, many of us are unaware of how others view us...

Nor are we conscious of the different areas we need to look into to ensure that we make a good impression at all times during business interaction.

Beyond making the first impression, it is substance that counts. Your personal brand comes from your internal and external make-up. Cleverly blending the two together will make you unique.

The workshop focused on:
  • Other people's perception of every participant
  • Self-appraisal of own strengths and weaknesses
  • Self-diagnosis of own values for personal branding
  • Generating own plan for personal branding

And Kay was awesome!

Ms. Kay Wong is a marketing communications professional of 20 years and has been involved in branding, advertising, public relations and strategic planning from working in various multinational advertising agencies.

Kay is also an Associate Lecturer at Institute Advertising Communication Training (IACT) and is a coach/mentor to trainees from the Certified Professional Trainer programme.

It's been raining since last night. Got to work an hour ago in the heavy drizzle. Left Suzy at home and decided to travel by motorcycle.

Can't seem to part with my faithful two-wheeler. The morning ride to work is what energizes me for the long day. The feeling is inexpressible...

Was alerted by my colleague that IACT is making waves in Sabah too. Way to go!

While browsing thru The Star last night, I stumbled upon a photo that looked pretty familiar. My college photo-studio made it to the papers. Sweet!

That's Motoshi attempting to shoot our model, Joanne. On the far right is Esther, adjusting the fill-in strobe. And of course, your's truly guiding Motz; making sure the composition is right. This class was an awesome bunch! Will miss them heaps...

Love at the first sight?
It can be a mere physical attraction or crush, but it usually refers to falling in love with someone, literally the very first time one sees her/him/it.

Possible? Rubbish, I'd say! There is NO such thing as love at first sight. It is a concept made-up by romantics who need a way to air-brush that deadly sin they find stirring inside of them.

So how do you explain that tingle, that spark, that connection that you feel with a person upon first seeing her/him/it? Could it just be LUST. One thing for sure, it is not, nor can it be Love.

Love is something that is built on far more concrete stuff. Compatibility, understanding, trust, security, respect, etc. None of these are present upon a first meeting, and therefore, by definition, our feeling, however powerful, can not be love.

Love at first sight is believed in by people who either don't know, or don't want to admit that the pull of a purely physical attraction can be that intense. But it definitely can be. And there's not a damn thing wrong with acknowledging that.

Having said that, I confess to having this indescribable attraction towards Suzy. I also acknowledge that fact that the "concrete stuff" has yet to set in.

The best bit is, I have managed to gain acceptance from family friends who understand the need for this and may I hope it blooms into yet another strong relationship.

Now I have two women in my life - Ruby & Suzy.

Sweet Sight
Three weeks ago during our usual A&W rendezvous, my mates and I witnessed something amusingly pleasant, which would probably linger in our minds for a long time to come...

Note:
The A&W rendezvous is basically what I do with my mates whenever time and weather permits. We'd grab a couple of wine bottles and hang out at Padang Timur PJ (behind A&W Petaling Jaya) around midnight. Just a small group of us, we'd sip on wine and chat till the break of dawn.

Instead of wine, we were doing tequila shots that night. At about 1am-ish, in our tipsy state, we saw a Malay/Indonesian couple pulling over in their Proton Satria. And running behind the car was a pregnant mongrel.

At first, we thought the couple weren't gonna get down (for reasons obvious to Malaysians). But surprisingly, they did and they immediately reached out to the dog and petted her lovingly. The couple then walked towards the field; the dog faithfully followed them. They chose a spot not too far from ours, within visible distance from our end.

The man then opened a food container and scooped out a portion of their snack and placed it on the ground. The mongrel gobbled up the food and not long later fell asleep at the couple's feet.

About an hour later, the couple got up and as they were getting ready to leave, the mongrel woke up. Again, the couple petted the dog and walked towards their car. As they drove off, the dog instantly disappeared in the bush, assumingly happy after receiving such tender loving treatment.

We didn't talk about it but I'm sure the rest felt the same way as I did...
